National Day of Service: A Seat at the Table: Raising Important Voices

Since its inception, our organizational mission has been to support and advocate for disenfranchised communities. After giving this a great deal of thought, hard work, and love, we decided to launch a new initiative, focusing on two frequently overlooked groups: disabled and/or indigenous people. Our board is comprised of members of one or both of these communities, and we have noticed that the disability and indigenous communities are all too frequently not given a seat at the table or considered when important decisions are made. Therefore, we are launching this new initiative and creating a seed fund and team of volunteers to advocate for these groups. Together, the disability and indigenous communities comprise over 26% of the electorate, yet we are so frequently not represented in leadership or policy considerations. In honor of the National Day of Service and in partnership with the Biden-Harris Presidential Inaugural Committee, we invite you to join us as a charter member of this new initiative. Two things that both the disability and indigenous communities are disproportionately lacking are money and allies, so we intend to address that. Our vision is to have the resources and people to make enough noise that we are no longer invisible or unheard. COVID19 has disproportionately impacted disabled and indigenous people in countless ways. Please join us, and let's make sure these important voices and faces are seen, heard, and represented, with a vision towards true equality. Here's how you can help:

Disabled and indigenous people, as a group, are financially in far worse shape than members of more privileged classes. We aim to rectify this by endowing this initiative with the resources to ensure that voices previously unheard will get an opportunity to talk. By virtue of financial barriers, both disabled and indigenous people often have difficulty lobbying and organizing, and COVID has hit these communities hard, part of that impact being economic. Please help fund this initiative--all proceeds go towards this seed fund.

Be Visible: Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve!
Shop & Raise Visibility!
Visibility matters. If no one is aware of a community or its unique needs, no one will know to include that community. We believe strongly that the disability and indigenous communities need more visibility, locally, nationally--everywhere. You can purchase our merchandise as a public statement that overlooked communities still count, and all proceeds benefit this initiative to advocate for and support the groups we're focusing on. If you buy something, take a picture of yourself in/with it, and post it somewhere to show your solidarity for disenfranchised communities and gain visibility! The Presidential Inaugural Committee has asked that if you share something pertaining to this event on social media, you use the hashtag #DayofService.
