National Day of Mourning
Hi everyone! We hope you are safe and well today, and for those of you who celebrate the holiday, enjoy it and your loved ones. However, our nation's history and narrative regarding this day are inaccurate and incredibly insensitive to our indigenous Americans whose ancestors did mark this day as a National Day of Mourning to acknowledge the atrocities committed against them. As an organization that is committed to disenfranchised communities, we believe that our indigenous citizens have not only been treated inhumanely throughout history (and in many respects, to date), but also that it is critical to honor and include indigenous people in the future and to change the narrative regarding the history of colonial behavior. In that light, please take some time today to consider doing the following:
